Soprano, Ms. Emily Doerfel
(Seeking solo and choral performance opportunities)
Emily Doerfel received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. While at Duquesne, Emily received supporting and lead roles in operas such as, “The Tenderland” (Mrs. Jenks), “La Boheme”(Musetta) and “The Gypsy Baron”(Saffi). She was also honored by receiving the prestigious Duquesne University Women's Advisory Board Music Scholarship, being one of the few vocalists to win that prize in the school’s history. While at Duquesne, Emily’s lyric coloratura voice was used in local venues by the outreach program of the Pittsburgh Opera for their 2002 production of “Lucia di Lammermoor.”
Professionally Emily has performed as “Kate” in ‘Pirates of Penzance’ with the Amarillo Opera, and “Aldonza” in ‘Man of LaMancha’ at the Little Theatre. She was one of three 2nd sopranos in a chamber performance of Bach’s “Mass in Bm” ,the Soprano soloist in the Brahm’s “Liebeslieder” ,as well as one of two featured vocal soloists in the “Brahms Song Recital” all with the Amarillo Chamber Music Society. Emily participated as an associate in the Amarillo Opera Apprentice Program in 2002 and was named the Amarillo Opera Apprentice Program Administrator in 2003. She has been teaching private voice since 1999 in Pittsburgh, PA, Amarillo, TX and Beverly Hills, CA. Currently, Ms. Doerfel continues to pursue her career in the performance fields of opera, classical singing, and musical theatre. She has studied with Juliana Gondek in Los Angeles, CA, Mary Jane Johnson in Amarillo, Texas, and the late, great Mija Novich in Pittsburgh, PA. She resides in Beverly Hills, California with her Husband, Joel.
